Privacy Policy

What you give us

When you join the waitlist, we store:

• Your email address.
• The date and time you signed up.
• Which copy of the site you signed up through: the live site or one of our test copies.
• The user-agent string your browser sends, which names the browser and type of device, cut to 512 characters.

That is everything the waitlist keeps. We do not ask for your name, and nothing you type into the Pitch It demo is saved or sent to us.

What we record automatically

To stop automated signups, we count how many times each IP address submits the form in an hour. The address is stored only as a one-way hash, which we cannot turn back into your IP address, and each count is set to expire two hours after its hour begins.

Our servers keep request logs for 30 days so we can find and fix problems. They record that a request happened and whether it worked. They do not record your email address or your IP address.

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Its fonts and images come from our own servers, so loading a page does not contact anyone else.

How we use it

• To email you about early access to akin and its launch.
• To protect the waitlist from abuse, such as automated or repeated signups.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who else handles it

Amazon Web Services hosts this site and stores the waitlist in the United States, in Northern Virginia. AWS processes the data on our behalf and on our instructions.

When we start emailing the waitlist, the service that sends those emails will receive your email address for that purpose only.

We may disclose information when the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist entry until you ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it to tell you about akin, whichever comes first.

Rate-limit counts are deleted automatically once they expire, and request logs are deleted after 30 days.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop emailing you. Email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. Every email we send will also include a way to unsubscribe.

Depending on where you live, including California and the European Union, local law may give you further rights over your information. We honor these requests from everyone, wherever you live.

Security

Your information travels to us over an encrypted connection and is encrypted where it is stored. Access to the waitlist is limited to the systems and people that need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share.

Children

akin is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has joined the waitlist, contact us and we will delete the entry.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email the waitlist before it takes effect.
